Privacy
Microphone testing should feel private.
This policy explains what happens when you use TestYourMicrophone.com. The microphone tool is designed to process the live stream in your browser rather than upload it to our server.
Microphone access
The browser asks for microphone permission only after you click the test button. You can deny, revoke, or change this permission through your browser and operating system settings.
Audio processing and recordings
The live level meter, device details, and recordings are created locally in your browser. TestYourMicrophone.com does not send microphone audio to a server as part of the microphone test. A recording remains available in the page while it is open, and it is downloaded only when you choose the download link.
Local preferences
The page stores one optional preference in local browser storage: whether you want the interface to remember your “Autostart next time” choice. This preference never starts the microphone by itself; you must still click the test button and approve the browser prompt.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how the site performs. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and may process information such as your browser, device, approximate location, and interactions with the site. We use this information for site analytics and improvement; it is not used to record or upload microphone audio. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings.
Basic website data
Like most websites, the hosting platform may process basic request information such as an IP address, browser type, and requested URL for security, delivery, and reliability. We do not need an account or personal profile for the microphone test.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the tool or its hosting changes. The effective version is the one published on this page.
